Robert Damper CD, D Tales Project this 20 year project in the making was recorded in, Seattle, Fayetteville, NC, Baltimore, Zurich, Switzerland. The first single dropped for Valentine’s Day was “Feels So Good” co-written by Robert & Grammy winner Skyler Jett, featuring Skyler on lead vocals. This CD has Robert’s original songs with a few of his favorite Jazz, Pop and R&B covers from Antonio Carlos Jobim (Wave) Burt Bachrach (Say A Little Prayer) and Thom Bell (Betcha by Golly Wow).
The D Tales Project is a tribute to his dear friend and former Kenny G drummer, Bruce Carter, Bruce played a vital role on so many of these tracks and was an incredibly important influence on Robert’s music, this amazing chartbusting project has long lasting staying power domestically and Internationally.
In the third grade Robert got hooked on jazz and was taken with the greats like Clifford Brown, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Oscar Peterson, Kenny Barron, Chick Corea and Art Tatum. While attending the University of Washington and Cornish Institute Of Allied Arts, before migrating to the east coast to attend the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music.
Robert became an integral part of a legendary local funk/soul band, Cold, Bold & Together, which featured his high school friend, Kenny Gorelick, aka Kenny G. As a student of Emmy award winning composer Hummie Mann’s PNW Film scoring program, this Seattle native has been keyboardist for Grammy winner Kenny G for over 30 years, He also played in Kenny G’s “G-Force” band, turned out to be a smart move.
Robert has also worked with some of the biggest talents like Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Roy Haynes, Jack DeJohnette, Branford Marsalis and Urs Weisendanger. The D Tales Project is a refreshing sound to be enjoyed anytime you want great songs wrapped in awesome musicianship.
